Troubleshooting Bose QC Ultra on Mac

Updated 2026-07-02 · ANCBuddy 2.0.2

If ANCBuddy cannot see or control your Bose QC Ultra, start by checking the normal macOS Bluetooth connection, then reopen ANCBuddy after the headphones or earbuds are awake.

Quick checks

  1. Open System Settings -> Bluetooth and confirm the Bose QC Ultra is connected.
  2. Play audio from the Mac to confirm the output device works.
  3. Keep the headphones or earbuds awake and near the Mac.
  4. Quit and reopen ANCBuddy.
  5. Disconnect and reconnect the device in macOS Bluetooth settings if mode switching still fails.

Apple documents the standard Mac Bluetooth pairing flow in Apple Support.

When to use the Bose phone app

The Bose phone app is still the right place for firmware updates, product setup, and some one-time device settings. Bose documents the app as an iOS and Android app in Bose Support.
